Writing is something so easy and so complex to do in life. We can literally write for hours and hours until the end. We reflect on our lives through writing, we talk about our problems through writing, and we can even write songs using our writing. Sometimes we have been asked “What is the purpose of writing? Why do we need to write? Why do we have the necessity to write?” We all question ourselves about the theory of writing because writing is something we do 24/7. For me, the theory of writing is that we write for a sole purpose. We can write about our emotions, we can write for others or sometimes we can write just for the fun of it. Before coming to this class, I saw that my theory for writing was to write about what angers us or what gets us ticked off about people not including LGBTQ things in our daily lives. While I attended the class, I learned a new form of writing called rhetorical analysis. I picked a topic and I delved into that topic with evidence from books, blogs, videos, etc. In this class, we had to read queer texts and watch videos that included queer people and basically write our own analysis of what we think about the thing that we read or watched. The “That’s So Gay” class was a hybrid class, meaning that there would be classes where the students and teachers would meet up in class and there would be other classes where we would not attend in person but rather we go and do our work digitally. This was my first experiencing this format of going to class. It was easy because I had a free day to stay at home but it was also stressful because I still had work to do. Although this was described as an “easy” class, I still learned a lot about many different queer topics and learned more about the lives of queer people and their struggles.
